We are delighted to welcome groups of 10-30 people by arrangement, in May, June and July. We have plenty of parking space for cars. Coaches can drop visitors off at the gate but will need to park elsewhere. We charge £4 entrance per person (under-16's free). We can supply tea and a generous slice of home-made cake, made with the eggs from our own chickens. We always aim to have an interesting and well-presented plant sales table. All the funds raised, from entrance fees, plants and teas are in aid of the National Garden Scheme charities. Our address is: Byecroft Welshman's Lane Bircher Leominster Herefordshire HR6 0BP To contact us, please either telephone 01568 780559 or please use our contact form. |
To help you plan your visit, here is an outline of what you might see in the garden at different times of year:
May: the peonies begin to flower, starting with the yellow Paeonia mlokosewitschii. If we are lucky, the yellow Banksian rose will be in flower. In the orchard, the fruit trees blossom and the wild flowers bloom.
June: the herbaceous perennials will start to perform, including the dazzling Dictamnus and the fragrant irises. The rambling roses on the pergola will begin to bloom.
July: along with the rambling roses, several Clematis will be at their best this month, as well as the mid-season herbaceous perennials. Scented lilies, honeysuckle and Philadelphus perfume the air.
August: the scented Actaea, colourful Heleniums and dazzling Dahlias predominate. On the pergola, the scented Clematis rehderiana is alive with bees.
September and October: Asters, Buddleia crispa and Sedum spectabile attract butterflies. The late Aconitums come into their own.
At all times of year, there are many pots and troughs of hardy and half-hardy plants to add interest.
